How Mumps Threatens Us All

December 21, 2017

Florida (which always comes up because they have a lot of transparency and self-reporting) is experiencing its largest mumps outbreak in years. Nationwide there are at least 5000 mumps cases. Other states hit hard include New York, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri ad Washington. Because many people experience mild symptoms, there are likely many people carrying/spreading mumps who have no idea. Make sure that you’re prepared with colloidal silver.

Mumps used to be a childhood disease but it was mostly wiped out by the introduction of the vaccine. It could cause severe reactions (especially in adults) like deafness, infertility, and brain swelling. Symptoms of the mumps could be mild (and go unnoticed), or could include the stereotypical swollen cheeks (mumps infects the salivary glands and causes swelling) and typical flu like symptoms (fever, headache, muscle aches and malaise (especially in the pelvis, neck, stomach, and testicles).

The uprising of mumps is a mix of a vulnerable, unvaccinated population and travel/immigration. Now that it’s in, it’s spreading. Even if you’ve received the MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella vaccine), it’s only 88% effective. That’s pretty good when everyone has the vaccine, but not so good now that mumps is spreading. About half of Florida patients had previously had the vaccine.

Mumps is spread through saliva, so keep up good hygiene habits like not sharing utensils, plates, and drinks, as well as thorough cleaning. And of course, cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough.

There’s no treatment for mumps, just treatment management and immune system support. Make sure that you’re getting immune system support with colloidal silver.
