Enough Omega-3 Fatty Acid In The Diet?

August 22, 2011

Vegetarian Essential Fatty AcidsMany modern diets are insufficient in Omega-3 fatty acids, and essential fatty acids can’t be made by the body! The body needs them to regulate inflammation, support brain function and healthy skin. It’s also important to make sure that Omega-3 fatty acids are balanced with Omega-6 and Omega-9 fatty acids, which all work together in the body.

EFA Select is a vegetarian source of all three essential fatty acids in the proportions the body needs. Flaxseed oil, the source of the essential fatty acids in EFA Select, is one of the best sources for Omega-3 fatty acid.
Although inflammation is an important bodily process responsible for clearing out damaged cells during the healing process, out of control inflammation is a modern problem caused by too much Omega-6 in the diet and not enough Omega-3 (or 9!). Supplementing Omega-3 (as well as a balanced amount of Omega-6 and Omega-9) can help the body to balance inflammation, supporting optimal health.

For optimal health, pair EFA Select with a healthy diet (low in fried foods, which are a source of too much Omega-6) and exercise!

Essential fatty acids may also be important for women’s health, and may play a role in blood pressure maintenance.
