The Easiest Way to Get the Benefits of Spirulina

November 28, 2017

Spirulina is one of the most nutrient dense foods on the planet. Low in calories but high in protein, vitamins, and minerals, spirulina is a true superfood (it’s even used by astronauts) and is especially useful for vegetarians and those who need more iron in their diet. A great way to get spirulina is Blu-Lina Organic Spirulina.

Start with the high protein content: it’s made up of essential amino acids, and is a good source of Omega-3 fatty acid, and gamma linolenic acid (GLA) which is normally hard to find in food, leaving the body to make it. Make things easier on yourself by getting a little GLA in your diet.

It’s also packed with vitamin and minerals, including lots of antioxidants. A good source of B Vitamins, spirulina’s antioxidants make it good exercise support (antioxidants aid muscle recovery). Spirulina has lots of minerals like copper, zinc, iron (it’s a great natural source!), and and calcium (it has 26x more than milk!).

And beyond the standard vitamins and minerals, spirulina has chlorophyll, which supports blood health, and may help remove heavy metal toxins like arsenic from the body.

Studies have found that spirulina may help with problems like unbalanced blood sugar/diabetes (in fact it was wildly successful) and even help with allergies.

When adding spirulina to your diet, always choose organic, high-quality spirulina. A low-quality source could be contaminated with a not-safe algae. Also consider choosing a supplement like Blu-Lina Organic Spirulina. Spirulina doesn’t taste great, so it doesn’t make a good addition to smoothies.
