The Importance of Digestive Enzymes

January 21, 2010

How do enzymes work to support your health? Enzymes, which are found in raw food, help you digest more easily (your body doesn’t work as hard at creating the enzymes itself) and so your body can do more work detoxifying. The easier digestion that accompanies having more enzymes present also means fewer digestive issues such as heartburn, bloating, gas, etc. However, it takes a special person to stick to a raw food diet. (If you are interested, consider looking at south Indian and Japanese cooking techniques and recipes, rather than the American trend that leans toward salad variations and such unappetizing ideas as raw beans soaked in water.) If you enjoy a warm meal, then make up the enzyme deficiency with Enzyme Complete, which contains such important enzymes as Lactase (for dairy), Lipase (for fat), and Papain (useful if you frequently have stomach complaints).

Further, enzymes are important for the immune system in that they bind to molecules such as 2-Marcorglobulin, which are in the blood stream and inhibit the immune system. By binding to them they stop them from inhibiting the immune system, allowing you to be your strongest at fighting disease. Systemic Enzymes is a supplement of enzymes specifically formulated to support your entire body’s enzyme needs, supporting your immune system, reducing
swelling and helping the blood to flow smoothly.

Some people, either because of age, chronic pancreatitis (inflammation in the pancreas), diabetes, cancer, cystic fibrosis or otherwise, suffer from exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, meaning their pancreases do not produce enough enzymes to properly digest food, and they fail to get enough nutrients. Adding enzymes to your diet with Enzyme Complete or, to target digestive needs, Digest Aid+, is the first step in helping your body. The second step is adding more vitamins to your diet with a supplement such as Welltrient One, so that you are sure to get everything you need.

Studies have found that enzymes have minimal side effects, making them a safe alternative or companion to traditional medicine. However, you should always consult a doctor before making drastic dietary or nutritional changes.
