Sugar is the biggest villain in nutrition these days. Part of the vitriol it gets, I think at least in part, is due to some righteous anger about how the sugar industry put blame on fat, and denied Americans decades of delicious, savory, fatty meals. Now we have the keto diet where you’re encouraged to drink straight cream, so things will eventually level back out.
But that doesn’t mean sugar is OK. In addition to the many known and touted health risks (diabetes, tooth decay, weight gain), if you’re taking hit after hit of sugar throughout your day you may have a weakened immune system! (So make sure it’s got extra support from colloidal silver).
The summation of what research there is on the immune system and sugar can be summed up by the good old saying “starve a fever, feed a cold”. It’s a bit of an over-simplification, since some studies have found that eating sugar suppresses immune cell activity. But in general, that extra fast hit of energy might be beneficial when fighting a virus like cold or flu, but it will only feed inflammation and infection if you’ve got a bacteria making you ill. It may also feed/support the wrong sort of bacteria in your gastrointestinal tract, leading to long term health problems if you’re not balancing out your diet with plenty of veggies and other prebiotics.
If you want to indulge in sugar, keep it minimal. Choose foods that aren’t loaded with additional additives, and consider the timing of when you eat. A good time to indulge in a sweet treat is post-exercising, when your insulin tolerance is higher and your body will quickly use up the extra energy.
If you just can’t fight that sweet tooth, make sure to balance it out with as many health boosting activities as you can, like eating plenty of veggies, exercising, getting enough sleep, fighting stress, and maybe even adding some immune support into your day with colloidal silver.
