Here are some statistics to scare the heck out of you:
Massachusetts estimates that they have at least 100,000 people infected with Hepatitis C, and 75% of that number are estimated to be currently unaware.
On top of that, statistics compiled by the CDC estimate that half of those who find out they have Hep C don’t get follow up testing.
That’s a lot of people with the potential to unknowingly spread Hepatitis C.
Which population is the most unknowingly affected? Baby boomers.
If you were born between 1946-1961 (roughly), you are at a significantly increased risk for Hep C. Bad medical practices of the time, the generation of free love, and a virus that can remain silent for decades has created the perfect recipe for a whole generation to be unknowingly infected.
The current recommendation is that anyone born in that time period get tested. It’s important to catch Hep C before the symptoms appear, as Hep C symptoms only appear when the liver is already severely damaged.
It’s also important to get tested to help stop the spread of the disease. Hep C spreads very easily—indirect contact, even (i.e. via shared items). Although current treatment options aren’t ideal, you want to be able to care for yourself!
Whether you know you’re sick or just want to take better care of yourself, Colloids For Life offers an array of products. From colloidal silver to liver cleanses and support.
What do you think about baby boomers’ increased risk for Hep C infection?
