Although no studies are looking into colloidal gold’s reported effects of boosting mental acuity, more measurable claims (and uses) are being explored.
The most ground-breaking news for colloidal gold is that nano gold particles are a part of a new tumor-targetting cancer treatment. The nano gold particles are not the treatment itself, but the delivery mechanism!
Of course, more practical to many people is colloidal gold’s potential use as a treatment for rheumatoid arthritis (arthritis caused by inflammation). After one study’s success with gold salt, colloidal gold and other forms are being studied further (great for increasing both awareness and future medical acceptance of colloidal gold and other natural supplements).
This study from the Journal of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine (pub. 1997!) focused on patients with severe rheumatoid arthritis who had not previously responded to treatment. After one week of colloidal gold, there was a noticeable decline in swelling with a reported decline in pain; after 24 weeks, patients experienced significant improvement, so much so that one patient who was previously unable to use their hands was capable of full time employment! The study also emphasizes that there were no toxic effects of non-ionized gold (colloidal gold), while ionized gold has many.
Of course, research requires permission, grants, and numerous other steps, and there’s no major organization pushing to prove the efficacy of colloidal gold. In the meantime, there’s plenty nanotechnology in the news.
