INSIDE THIS ARTICLE:

Santa Christmas GuestAre you ready for a holiday gathering? The recipes are chosen, the travel arrangements long since made, and the decorations are up.

That’s all the good things—what about the potential bumps?

Whether they arrive by car or plane, from somewhere warm or cold, alone or together—it’s cold and flu season, and that actually means more than just cold and flu. It means Norovirus and other “stomach flus”, And if everyone is staying in the same place (or just gathering there for a long day) there are lots of little things you can do to improve everyone’s comfort.

-Run a Humidifier. Or two. Humidity makes it harder to transmit the flu, which will help keep everyone healthy while you’re gathered. You can also run a tea kettle or boil a pot of water—just don’t leave it unattended or let it run out (and hey, serving tea is great, especially for anyone with a runny nose or sore throat. Make sure you have herbal, decaf options available—try our health supporting Jiaogulan!).

-Make Little Comforts Available. You’ve probably got fresh towels and sheets covered, as well as holiday cookies and mistletoe—but don’t forget some of these other touches:

Set a bottle of Dakota Muscle Relief out in the bathroom (pick up our handy spray bottle if you’ll be sharing). After a long day of sledding, hiking, snowball fights, or skiing guests can ease muscle aches naturally before sitting through a formal dinner.

And have a couple of bottles of our Smelly Shoe Spray around the house (it works for more than shoes!). If everyone’s coming over, it will help keep that big pile of shoes from smelling (again, especially after a busy day, you’ll be grateful). If people are staying, it may also help with all that built up laundry and keeping rooms fresh.

-And Share the Immune Support. Do you love how well colloidal silver works? Share the love, and have a few bottles available along where guests can find them. Point them out at the first sniffle. If you’re aren’t already stocked up for cold and flu season, order a ten pack now.

-Stock up on yogurt, and consider working it into your snacks and appetizers. Helping all your guests maintain healthy gut bacteria while somewhere new with a different diet—everyone benefits if you can slow or stop a stomach sickness! (Maybe keep a probiotic supplement on hand for emergencies!)

If guests are staying in hotels, consider sending some of these in a gift basket to thank them for traveling (yeah, you’ll be exchanging presents, but they probably spent hundred to thousands of dollars to get there).

Are you a good host? What little touches put you a cut above?
